Albert Neighbors

Albert "Carl" Neighbors passed away November 17, 2017 in Dallas, Texas at the age of 87. Graveside services will be 2 PM, Sunday, November 19, 2017 in the Prairie Hill Cemetery with Rev. Rick Cundieff officiating. Carl was born September 16, 1930 in Salem City, Virginia to William Henry and Mabel Shaver Neighbors; one of sixteen children. He retired from the City of Dallas Water Department after 30 years of service. Carl married his loving wife, Luanna Heussner, on September 1, 1968. He was blessed with four children, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Family was everything to him, especially his grandchildren. There was nothing or no one that could compare to the love he had for his grandchildren, they were his life. Carl was a hard worker and a good provider. He also enjoyed landscaping his yard, gardening and was a fan of the Texas Rangers. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Stephen Neighbors; son-in-law, Paul White; and 12 siblings. Carl is survived by his wife of 49 years, Luanna Neighbors; children, Freda LaPorte, Tammy Nicks and Lisa White; grandchildren, Ashley Neighbors, Clayton Nicks, Gram White, Lucas White, Jeff LaPorte and Justin LaPorte; great-grandchild, Jayden; sons-in-laws, Joe LaPorte and Jody Nicks; siblings, Sam, Helen and Delores; and numerous nieces and nephews. His family would like to express their "special thanks" to Jody Nicks for taking such good care of Carl.
