Allie Bernice Bennett, 89, formerly of Mexia passed away July 12, 2012 in Belton, Texas. Funeral services will be 3PM, Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Rev. Marc Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to service. Bernice was born September 8, 1922 in Leon County, Texas to Willie Henry and Eva Lena Bilderback Raines. She resided in Limestone County most of her life. Bernice married Jess Willard Bennett on September 26, 1942 in Muskogee, OK; they were married for 52 years. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Mexia for over 60 years. She was very dedicated to her Lord and cherished her family. Bernice was a beautician for over 25 years. She was also a nurse, kindergarten teacher and worked in sales for Avon, Mary Kay, Stanley, World Book, sold dresses, ceramics, art and worked at Wal-Mart. She was also a member of Eastern Star for 50 years and DAR. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandchild, Jeremiah Burns; and siblings, Haynie, Ruby, Ollie, Irene, Annie Nora, Winnie Mae and Bill. Bernice is survived by her son, Willard Bennett of Belton; daughter, Pamela Burns of Texarkana; five grandchildren, John Bennett, Lisa Drake, James Bennett, Ben Burns and Leslie Burns; one great-grandson, Adam Drake; sister, Adeene McNeil of San Marcos; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Ben Burns, John Bennett, James Bennett, Andre Swab, John Pevehouse and Kent Raines. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 500 E. Carthage, Mexia, TX. 76667.
