Amos Carl Holt, 98 years of age, passed away March 1, 2014 in Katy. Amos was a long time resident of Point Enterprise, Texas. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Minister Greyson Holt. Interment will follow in the Point Enterprise Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 10:00- 11:00 a.m., Saturday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Born July 11, 1915 in Gladewater, Texas, his parents moved to Mexia when he was 6 years old. He attended school at Point Enterprise and Mexia High School, with "Shop" being his favorite class. He married Willie D Kerzee, of Point Enterprise, on November 7, 1936. Together they worked as managers and caretakers of the "Phantom Ranch" in the bottom of the Grand Canyon, Arizona. Their first child was born at the Canyon in 1940. Returning to Texas, Amos spent 35 years in the Dallas/Fort Worth area working in the aircraft industry to support the military effort in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He also built and remodeled houses, was a successful farmer and rancher, and loved playing cards, dominos, and shooting pool with family and friends. One of eight children, Amos was preceded in death by his parents, Lucy Johnson and Elbridge Holt; three sisters and a brother; and his loving wife of 64 years, Willie D Kerzee Holt. He is survived by two sisters and a brother, his three children and their spouses, Amos Earl (Carolyn)Holt of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas, Lucy Willene (Bob) Collins of Katy, Texas, and Kayla Ann (Ulys) Lane of Aubrey, Texas; eight grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren. One of his frequent sayings when saying goodbye was, "Y'all have a good night and a good day tomorrow."
