Andrew Curtis Swint Jr., 78, of Garland, Texas passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2019, in Richardson, Texas of complications due to Multiple Sclerosis. He was born on Thursday, October 23, 1941, to Andrew Curtis Swint Sr. and Jestina Fogelman in Tehuacana, Texas. He married Teresa (Terry) Curtis on June 1, 1996 in Garland, Texas. He was a Diesel Mechanic, Cross Country Truck Driver, S.W. Bell Linesman, and a Policeman with Cockrell Hill Police Dept. Curtis served on the Baylor University Medical Center Board of Volunteers. He was active in the animal Assisted Therapy Program with dogs Freckles, Stryer, Gigi, and Ryan. He was an active volunteer with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, serving on the Walk Committee, and assisted with planning Family Discovery Camp, Champ Camp for children with MS and Camp Can Do, A Barrier Free Camp for adults with MS. Curtis volunteered with Canine Companions for Independence and Canine Support Teams as the Texas Liaison. He and his wife Terry eventually developed Bluebonnet Service Dogs of Texas, serving recipients as a Director. Curtis was special in so many ways. Though his body had limitations, his heart never did. Aside from being one of the most trusted and valued volunteers at the National MS Society he became "Dad" or "Daddy A" to several young adults. Whenever he was needed, he was there. He knew how to repair many things and if his hands couldn't do it, he would patiently talk others through the task. He loved being with people. The activity didn't matter, but it was full of laughs and jokes, His heart was the size of Texas and always gave friends, old and new, his famous homemade salsa. He never let a conversation go by without genuinely saying how much he loved them and how much they meant to him. He was a wonderful and dynamic man.
