Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Ruth Reed, 84, of Mexia will be 2 PM Thursday, November 20, 2008, at the First Baptist Church in Mexia with the Reverend Kathy Myhand and Reverend Marcus Sheffield officiating. Interment will follow in the Lost Prairie Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 7 PM Wednesday at Blair-Stubbs funeral home. Mrs. Reed was born October 12, 1924 in Lost Prairie to H.H. and Lurah Easterling Sims. She passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2008 in Waco. Mrs. Reed was a lifelong resident of Limestone County and had lived in Mexia since 1957. She taught in the public school system for 36 years, most of those years in Mexia. She was an active longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Mexia and the Fidelis Sunday School class. She also belonged to the Retired Teachers Association and the Mexia Garden Club and Women's Friday Club. Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by her parents, her husband B.V. Reed, brothers and sisters, J.B.(Bunk) Sims, A.B. (Jep) Sims, Archie Sims, Aulsie Sims, Glynn (Jr) Sims, Warner B. Sims, Christine Sims and Hazel Fitzgerald She is survived by her sons and daughters in law, Bobby and Mary Margaret Reed and Benji and Robilyn Reed. She is further survived by grandchildren, Stephen Reed and his wife Anna, Leslie Reed, Justin Reed and his wife Isabela, Allyson Stanton and her husband Tyler and Valarie Reed, Brothers, Alton Sims and wife Sarah and Eugene Sims, Sisters, Allene Maskew and Wylene Bryan and husband Jim Bob.
