Annette Huckaby Parker, 94, of Tehuacana passed away January 14, 2013 in Mexia. Funeral services will be 10:30AM, Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church in Mexia with Rev. Ken Lane and Rev. Tom Prentiss officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairfield Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 4-6 p.m., Friday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Annette was born on December 13, 1918 (Friday the 13th) at HUK Ranch, Northeast of Fairfield, Texas to William Fuller Huckaby and Emy Owens Huckaby. She and her brother and sisters entertained themselves by exploring Northern Freestone Co., on horseback (cowgirl), from Hickory Grove to Young and Trinity River bottoms. After graduating from Fairfield High School in 1936, she moved to Terrell, Texas, in 1937, to work at Terrell State Hospital. While employed there, Annette met and married Hubert M. Parker on July 16, 1938 in Terrell. They were blessed with two sons, William M. (Bill) and Frank H. Parker. Hubert and Annette transferred, with several other employees, to the Mexia State School in 1949. They lived on campus while working at MSS until 1966, at which time they built and moved to their new home in Tehuacana. After Hubert's death in 1966, Annette worked at MSS and retired in 1977 with 33 years of service in the Mental Health and Retardation field. Annette was a faithful and active member of the Presbyterian Churches in Fairfield and Mexia for her entire life. She held offices in the local Women's organization, taught Sunday School for many years, was a Presbyterian Women's Coordinator, served as an Elder for many years. She was, also, active and held office in the local Jonathan Hardin Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution, member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy ( which revealed her interest in family history) and was a Hospice of Mercy (now Providence Hospice) volunteer. She was preceded in death by her parents, William F. and Emy Huckaby; husbands, Hubert M. Parker and William F. Sullins; son, William M. (Bill) Parker; brother, William Owens (Billy); sisters, Mary Vernon Withrow and Lila Hancock; and niece, Charlette Huckaby Hemby. Annette is survived by her son, Frank H. Parker of Tehuacana; daughter-in-law, Beth Bounds Parker of Tehuacana; grandsons, Eric Parker and wife, Marie and Chris Parker all of Tehuacana; great-grandchildren, Lila and Thomas Parker of Tehuacana; six nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; and many extended family and friends. Pallbearers will be Joe Hancock, Eric Parker, Chris Parker, Jimmy Hemby, Dave Chilcoat and Kendall Hancock. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, P.O.
