Barbara Jean Sewell, of Itasca, entered her heavenly home on November 4, 2022 at the age of 89.  A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 12, 2022 in the Woodbury Baptist Church in Woodbury, TX with Rev. Truitt Cockrell and Wade Yarbro officiating.  Interment will be in the “New” Woodbury Cemetery.

Barbara was born March 14, 1933 in Salado, Texas to Houston and Lucye Pamela (Quesenberry) Berry. She grew up and attended Salado schools, graduating from Salado High School where she played basketball and was honored with the State Golden Girl Award.  Barbara received her Bachelor of Art in Music from Mary Hardin Baylor.  She retired after 26 years of service in the Itasca ISD, where she served as a music teacher, Band Director, and an elementary school teacher.

Barbara married her lifelong partner, Rev. Billy Guy Sewell on October 19, 1956 in Belton, Texas.  She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, in addition to a working career and being a dedicated, supportive preacher’s wife.  Barbara, also, played the piano for Woodbury Baptist Church for 51 years.  Her life revolved around serving the Lord and taking care of her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Houston and Lucye Berry; her husband, Rev. Billy Sewell; grandson, Ethan Sewell; sister, Jo Ann Berry Stowell; and brother, Monte Derwood “Sonny” Berry.

Barbara is survived by her three sons, Douglas Guy Sewell and wife, Karen of Centreville, MD, Stanley Dean Sewell and wife, Lindy of Mexia, and Gregory Lynn Sewell and wife, Shanah of Itasca; grandchildren, Nichole LaGreca, Katie Sewell, Cameron Sewell, Hanah Sewell, Mason Sewell, Gavin Sewell, Chloe Sewell; great grandsons, Julian LaGreca and Ethan Coleman; great granddaughters, Chynna Stueber, Maebry White, and Cate Totzke; and sister, Marla Houston Berry Sanders and husband, Jim of Blanco, TX.
