Benjamin Clarence (Ben) Reed, 75, of Mexia passed away April 28, 2009 at his home in Mexia. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2009 at the VFW in Mexia. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Ben was born to Clarence Alvin and Vada Celestia Simms Reed in Rogers, Texas on December 28, 1933. Ben married Mavis LaNell Campbell on January 1l, 1964. He was a very loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. His grandsons were his pride and joy. After 35 years, as a Truck Supervisor, he retired from Plantation Foods in Waco. Ben proudly served his country in the U. S. Army. He was an avid fisherman and loved gardening. Ben was known for his big heart and generosity. He loved people and those who knew him, loved him. He will be truly missed by his family and many friends. Ben was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mavis LaNell Reed of Mexia; daughter, Clarissa Reed and husband, Billy Lee of Mexia; sons, Benjamin C. Reed, II of Mexia, Albert F. Finch and wife, Connie of Garland, Everette Owen Finch and wife, Melissa of Mexia; grandsons, Benjamin Elexandor Reed and Anthony E. Finch of Mexia.
