Bennie Charles Posey, 84, passed away September 8, 2014 in Waco, Texas. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Mexia with Rev. Marcus Sheffield, Rev. Jerry Fulton and Rev. Michael King officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodland Cemetery in Kirven, TX. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m., Tuesday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Bennie was born November 2, 1929 in Kirk, Texas to Delma Ross and Lois Lorene Sikes Posey. He graduated from Mexia High School in 1947. He was a Sgt. 1st Class in the National Guard during the Korean War era. Bennie married Jimmie Payne on February 23, 1952 in Mexia, Texas. Bennie retired from Southwestern Electric Service Company after 39½ years of service. He began his career in July 1952 and worked as a lineman for seven years; in 1959, he worked as a serviceman for six years; in 1965, he worked as a service foreman for 14 years; and in 1979, became Division Superintendent for 12 years, retiring in 1991. Bennie loved God, his family and his fellow man; he was a man of his word and willing to help anyone in anyway. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mildred McKenzie and Nancy Lee; and brother, Dr. Delma Posey. Bennie is survived by his wife, Jimmie Posey of Mexia; three sons, Phillip Posey and wife, Deena of Kerens, Ronald Posey of Mexia and Timothy Posey and wife, Wendy of Trenton, TX; five grandchildren, Chris Posey and wife, Megan of Kerens, Kyle Posey and wife, Cassidy of Spring, Mark Anderson and wife, Julie of Collierville, TN, Emily Anderson of Round Rock, and Seth Anderson of Arlington; six great-grandchildren, Colton, Libi and Lexie Posey of Kerens, Colton and Colby Anderson of Collierville, TN and Kale Anderson of Austin; brothers, Edward Cayton of Houston and Don Posey and wife, Laquita of Fairfield; and sister-in-law, Patsy Posey of Temple. Pallbearers will be Billy McKenzie, Mike Cayton, Robert McKenzie, Daniel Posey, Patrick Posey, Michael Posey and Jonathan Lee. Honorary pallbearers will be Fenley Magness, Dennis Savage, Randy Teel, Gerald Fulton, William Sims, J. W. Gore, Charles Holmes, Newman Shorter, Eddie Chrisner and Bill Beene.
