Bert Lynn Harrison Sr., 81 of Mexia, left this earth to be with his heavenly father on October 14, 2019. Funeral services will be at Northcrest Church of Christ on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at 10 AM with officiating Bro. Craig Tappe. Interment will follow in the Coolidge Cemetery. The family invites friends to visit prior to the service beginning at 9 AM.
Bert was born on December 14, 1937 in Mexia, Texas. He graduated from Mexia High School in 1956. He enlisted in the United States Airforce and then returned to Sam Houston and completed a Bachelors in Business degree. Bert was well experienced in various types of businesses during his lifetime. He was the owner of Harrison's Furniture in Mexia and then pursued a profession in auto sales for numerous years. Bert worked his way up the career ladder and retired in 1999 from Allen Samuels as the Fleet Manager. During his retirement years, he wanted to serve his community and was a board member of the Mexia Independent School District for several years. He also enjoyed reading, traveling in the RV, spending time with his family and his beloved dogs. Bert was a member of the Northcrest Church of Christ and served as a Deacon.
Bert was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert Lynn Harrison and Dora Gladys January Harrison. He is survived by the love of his life of 59 years, Glenna Hodges Harrison; mother-in-law, Ruby Jewel Hodges of Mexia; his daughter, Stacy Harrison of Fort Worth; his sons, Bert Lynn Harrison Jr. of Mexia; Jon Harrison and wife Jaime of Mexia; James Harrison and wife Kelly of Mexia. Bert was blessed with seven grandchildren. Rachel Park King and husband, Nick of Fort Worth; Paige and Aiden Park of Fort Worth; Landry Harrison of Mexia; Karson Harrison of San Marcos; Evan Harrison of Mexia; and Gracie Harrison of Mexia; and one great-grandson, Wyatt King of Fort Worth. He is also survived by a brother, Jan Harrison of Mexia; sister-in-law, Jan Robinson and husband, Ken of Green Valley, AZ. He was also blessed with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be Walt Harrison, Brian Hullum, Joe Montgomery, Taylor Montgomery and grandsons Landry and Evan Harrison.
