Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Orena Freeman Johnson will be 3 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2007 in Blair - Stubbs Chapel in Mexia with interment following in the Pt. Enterprise Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday prior to the service. Bertha Orena Freeman Johnson was born September 24, 1908 near Mexia. She grew up in this area and was married to George A. Johnson on September 27, 1928. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson resided near Mexia until November 1946. At that time the family moved to Casper, Wyoming where Mr. Johnson was employed by Standard Oil Company. Mrs. Johnson lived in Casper until 1963, when Mr. Johnson retired and they returned to Mexia. Mr. Johnson passed away on July 20, 1977. Mrs. Johnson remained in Mexia until 1993 when she moved to Knoxville, Tennessee. In April 1996 she moved to Atlanta, Georgia to live with her son. Mrs. Johnson lived in Atlanta until the time of her death. She was a member of the Baptist Church. She was 98 at the time of her death. She is survived by one son, Jerry D. Johnson, two grandchildren and a number of nieces And nephews. Pallbearers at her funeral are her nephews: Paul Freeman, Mickey Freeman, Ronald W. Freeman, Billy G. Freeman, Edwin Freeman and Douglas Freeman.
