Betty Frances Harris

Mrs. Betty Frances (Maddox) Harris passed away, at the age of 90, on February 7, 2025.  Betty was born on March 18, 1934 in Mexia, Texas to Douglas and Lora Bon (Hendrix) Maddox. After graduating from Mexia High School, she later attended nursing school where she received her LVN license. She was the school nurse for Mexia ISD for many years, she thoroughly enjoyed being around the kids and taking care of them. It had to be a rewarding job as kids always love and remember those who care for them. She also worked for the Mexia Hospital.

Betty was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was also very close to her siblings, especially her sister, Nelda. There was nothing she enjoyed more than spending time with family and friends. Betty had an outgoing personality; she never had any problem interacting with people whether she knew them or not. She and Nelda were both very witty and no matter where they were or what they were doing, they were having a good time.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas and Lora Maddox; husband, Johnny Harris; son, James Douglas Kerzee; sister, Nelda LeNoir; brothers, Bobby and Jack Maddox.

Betty is survived by her son, Robert Kerzee and wife, Tracy of Taylor; grandchildren, Heath Scruggs and wife, Angela, Cody Burns and wife, Amy, Courtney Reyes, and Kalli Sansom; 11 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family is scheduled for Sunday, February 9, 2025 from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Reverend Lowell Warren officiating.  Graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Mexia City Cemetery.
