Mrs. Betty H. Tims, 78 of Richland Hills, formerly of Mexia passed away Wednesday March 22, 2006. Mrs. Tims was born December 30, 1927 in Mexia to Wesley Sylvester and Laura Pearl Adams Hughes. Mrs. Tims while in Mexia was a member of the Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Texas State Teachers Association. In the last few years she had become a member of the Applique Society, The Trinity Valley Quilters Guild of Fort Worth and The Quilters Guild of Dallas. Mrs. Tims had a long and rewarding teaching career, having taught math in the Mexia School system for many years. She was so dedicated to her profession that one year after suffering a broken hip finished teaching her senior class in her hospital room. She made special friends wherever she lived and made many lifelong friends with her former students. An avid sports fan, she was particularly fond of the Mavericks. Mrs. Tims was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Tom Tims in 1978. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law - Bettianne and Dennis Crawford of Sequim, Washington. Two Grandchildren - Tims Guynes of Boise, Idaho and Lillie Lindner of Sequim, Washington and by two Great Grandchildren - Kathleen and Jessica Guynes. Graveside Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Saturday March 25, 2005 in the Mexia cemetery with the Dr. Max Burkhead officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 7 pm Friday at the funeral home.
