Betty "Jean" Williford, 80, of Mexia passed away April 12, 2009 in Mexia. Funeral services for Mrs. Williford's will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church. Rev. Brad Brittain will officiate with interment to follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 4-6 PM Wednesday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Jean was born to Raymond W. "Dampy" and Betty Fisher Arnold in San Antonio on June 21, 1928. She was a graduate of Southwestern University in Georgetown. Jean and Dr. Carl E. Williford were married in San Antonio on June 29, 1948. She has been a resident of Mexia for the past 54 years. Jean has been an active member of the First United Methodist Church for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, Dorcus Class, Garden Club, Supper Club and since 1963, was still an active member of the Parkview Regional Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. Jean was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother; very active in church, community and all activities that concerned her family. Jean was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Chris Williford. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Dr. Carl E. Williford of Mexia; daughter, Karen Mitcheletti and husband, Charlie of Fairfield; two sons, Carl A. "Buddy" Williford and wife, Donna and Glen Williford and wife, Cindy all of Mexia; grandchildren, Carrie Herren and husband, Mark of Snook, Kevin Micheletti and wife, Nadia of Lubbock, LouAnn Williford of Shiloh, Jean Williford , Katy Williford , Sheila Wallitsch , Brandi Ellis, Clint Williford and wife, Amber all of Mexia; great-grandchildren, Brittany and Trey Fulmer, Payton Wallitsch, Isaac Williford, Cash Ellis, Caroline Williford, Austin James Williford and Chance Herren.
