Billy Ed Felz, 75, died July 4, 2008 at his home in Mexia, Texas surrounded by his wife and sister. He was born September 18, 1932 in Mexia to Edward and Mattie Mae (Dorsett) Felz. Mr. Felz is survived by his wife and companion, Neva, of 39 years, a sister, Nancy Felz Zatopek and husband, Elo of Waco, a niece, Leah West of Dallas and a great niece, Chelsea West of Waco. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews including niece, Sharon Shiell who lived with he and his wife for a period of time. Visitation with the family will be 1-2:30 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2008 at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Union Cemetery Chapel. Rev. Bill Thompson will officiate. He graduated from Mexia High School and then attended Arlington College and later Navarro College. After graduation, he served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After the war, he worked for Henry Klatt & Son of Waco for 18 years. Later, he started his own automobile business in Mexia, Texas. He retired in 1997 to become a full time rancher. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Mr. Felz loved to hunt and fish and was known in the area as "The Catfish King". He was blessed by a loving wife and many friends. Pallbearers will be Kent Yelverton, Dr. Rick Bennett, Johnny Shields, Jack DeLo, Charles Dana Yelverton, Butch Nichols and Sidney Wolfe. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Ward, Boyd Walpole, Joe Davis, Frank Clayton and Charlie Morris.
