Billy Douglas Spruiell, 77, of Mexia passed away December 7, 2011 in Mexia. Funeral services will be 2PM, Friday, December 9, 2011 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Rev. Bill Wright, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Coolidge Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Billy was born January 25, 1934 in Mexia, Texas to Fred and Anne Dezell Spruiell. He was a carpenter and a retiree of the Mexia State School Maintenance Department. Billy served his country in the U. S. Army. He was a member of the Mexia VFW Lancaster Post 4694. Billy was very outgoing; he never met a stranger. His love for his family and friends was evident in his life. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wanda Gilmore Spruiell; son, Benjamin Spruiell. Billy is survived by three children, Tami O'Donnell, Robin Adams and husband, Sonny and Scott Spruiell and wife, Paula; step-son, Kyle Gilmore; grandchildren, Candice Baker, Nathan, Herman and Jennifer Griffith, Michael, Steven and Jeffery McGee; great granddaughter, Allison McGee; sister, Bette Gupton; brother, Tim Spruiell; and cousin, Jim Purser. Pallbearers will be Don Johanson, Junior Fisher, Paul Youngblood, Gary Talbot, Jan Harrison, Bert Lynn Harrison and Joe Teel.
