Bobby Gray Lanier, of Seale Round Prairie, passed away August 23, 2017 in Mexia, Texas at the age of 85. Funeral services will be 11 AM, Friday, August 25, 2017 at Lake Limestone Baptist Church with Bro. Johnny Layton, Rev. Ken Worley and Chaplain Jon Honea officiating. Interment will follow in the Seale-Round Prairie Cemetery. Larry Smith, Ryan O'Neal, Jared O'Neal, Buck Fuller, Shawn Noey and Bill Jackson will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Lake Limestone Baptist Church Men's Sunday School Class, Maurice Bourne, Clyde Chatham and Roy Lee Copeland. Visitation with the family will be prior to the service beginning at 10 AM, Friday, at Lake Limestone Baptist Church. Bobby was born September 8, 1931 in Carthage, Texas to Herndon Grayson and Jewell Martin Lanier. He served his country as a proud member of the US Army. Bobby retired from Petro-Tex Chemical Company after 30 years of service. Bobby married his loving wife of 69 years, Eva Jo Jackson, on August 11, 1948 and they were blessed with two sons, Bob, Jr. and Jody. He loved spending time with his family, especially, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bobby believed in working hard, taking care of his family and serving the Lord. After retiring, he and Eva Jo moved to the country where he enjoyed raising cattle and simply living the country life. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf. Bobby was an active member, and Deacon, of the Lake Limestone Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Jody Lanier. Bobby is survived by his wife, Eva Jo Lanier of Lake Limestone; son, Bob Lanier, Jr. and wife, Diane; grandchildren, Brad Lanier and Stacy McKellar and husband, Greg; and great-grandchildren, Lexie, Weston and Landry McKellar.
