Bonnie Ruth Duke (née Gammage), affectionately known as Aunt BonBon, passed away on June 29, 2024, at the age of 87, in Tehuacana, Texas. Born on March 24, 1937, in Elkhart, Texas, Bonnie embarked on a fulfilling career that began at a young age. She dedicated many years to GMAC before taking on roles as a secretary for the City of Tehuacana and the First Baptist Church of Tehuacana, where she also worshipped.
Bonnie was a warm, friendly, and generous individual, known for her dry, witty sense of humor. She had the unique ability to laugh and cry simultaneously, making her a treasure to all who knew her. An avid shopper and gardener, Bonnie found joy in the simple pleasures of life.
She is survived by her loving sister, Patsy, her devoted friend and caregiver, John Mercedes Iglesias, and many nieces and nephews. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie C. Gammage and Vera Beatrice Franklin Gammage, and her sisters, Charlene Marie Bridges, Ima Jean Hobson, and Nelda Maurice Anderson.
Bonnie graduated from Humble High School and went on to earn a degree from a business school, which served her well throughout her career.
Graveside services will be held at the Garden of Memories in Elkhart, Texas, on Friday, July 5, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. Blair-Stubbs in Mexia, Texas, are assisting with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity in memory of Bonnie. Bonnie's kindness and vibrant spirit will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who were fortunate to know her.
