Bruce Wilburn

Bruce Howard Wilburn, 94, of Groesbeck, passed away March 31, 2014 in Waco, Texas. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 4, 2014 at Prairie Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Clifton Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the LaSalle Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Bruce was born July 22, 1919 in Personville, Texas to Henry William and Etta Reynolds Wilburn. He was a retired operator of Union Carbide, now, Dow Chemical. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Bruce enjoyed being with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his dog, Bootsy. He also liked to sing, play bingo at the Senior Citizens Center and participating in the Monday morning coffee club with the men from church. He was a long time active member of Prairie Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 45 years, Hatti Faith Coe Wilburn; and son, Bruce Michael Wilburn. Bruce is survived by his son, Johnnie Coe Wilburn and wife, Rebecca of Thornton; daughter, Patti Joyce Wilburn of Deer Park, TX; grandchildren, Ricky and Kathy Brannon, Ryan and Jeremy Grace, Johnnie and Samantha Wilburn, Bruce and Angelique Wilburn and Chrissy J. Wilburn; 13 great-grandchildren plus one more on the way; sisters, Altharee Langford and husband, Howard of Groesbeck and Lonnie Mae Robinson of Mexia; a number of nieces and nephews; and his companion of many years, Bootsy. Pallbearers will be Ricky Brannon, Johnnie Wilburn, Bruce H. Wilburn, II, Jeremy Grace, Jimmy Cotton, Tim Dykeman, Terry Cotton and Loren Anderson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Prairie Grove Baptist Church.
