Carl Thompson

Carl “Wayne” Thompson, of Donie, passed away February 28, 2021 in Waco, Texas at the age of 75.  Visitation with family will be 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home with Rev. David Snow officiating and Randy Barger speaking.  Interment will follow in the Union Cemetery between Donie and Groesbeck off Hwy 164   Ron Arnold, Benji Taylor, Clay Thompson, Roy Welch, Randy Barger and Jace Floyd will serve as pallbearers.

Wayne was born January 16, 1946 in Jewett, Texas to Carl William and Thelma “Sadie” (Van Sickles) Thompson.  He received a degree in Finance and Business from the University of Houston.  Wayne served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War.  He owned and operated several successful restaurants in Colorado and Indiana and retired from Mexia State School, after 10 years of service.

Wayne married his lifelong partner, Janice Katherine Roberts, on September 11, 1965 in Houston, Texas and they were blessed with one daughter, Lisa and one granddaughter, Delaney.  His family was his life, his pride and joy.  Wayne was a good, kind, generous man, and no matter the challenges or circumstances, he seemed to always have a way of making things happen in a positive way.  He, also, had a soft heart when it came to animals of every kind.  Although he enjoyed gardening, he loved giving the produce away even more.  Another of his favorite things to do, was traveling.  Wayne was a longtime, loyal member of the Teague Rodeo Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Sadie Thompson.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janice Thompson of Donie; daughter, Lisa Thompson Moore; granddaughter, Delaney Thompson Moore; other relatives and numerous friends.
