With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Cassandra Deanne Steele, a beloved mother, daughter, sister, grandma, and friend who left us way too early on July 18, 2024 at her residence in Lumberton, Texas at the age of 52.
Cassandra was born in Hillsboro, TX on July 1, 1972 to Clifton R. Steele and Zora M. L. Turner Steele.
She was affectionately known as Grandma to her grandkids, Sisi or Aunt Sisi to all her nieces and nephews, and Sandy to her favorite uncle Edward Hykel.
Cassandra was friendly, generous, and never met a stranger. She had a great sense of humor, was loving, very smart, great with animals and rescued many wild animals. She was an avid shopper, a gardener, and enjoyed reading her Bible. Cassandra was a very good cook, her specialties were cooking crab legs, fish, and Mexican food which were also her favorite foods to eat. Her love for trying new foods kept her tuned in to the food networks in search of new things to try. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Gene and Sally Steele, Bill and Ella D. Turner; uncles, Gene Steele and Edward Hykel; brother, William Steele; and son, Cole B. Sosebee.
Cassandra is survived by her mom, Zora M. L. Turner Steele of Mexia; father, Clifton R. Steele and stepmom, Brenda Steele of Lumberton; her beautiful children, Clifton G. Steele and wife, Jackie of Mexia, Caleb Sosebee of Whitney, and beautiful daughter, Casey Sosebee of Whitney; three grandchildren, Cason Lowe, Cole Steele, and Amanda Steele; three stepbrothers, who loved her dearly, Curtis Lerette and wife, Natasha of Lumberton, Grant Lerette and wife, Danting of Montgomery, TX, Landry Smith of Hillsboro, TX; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends, who loved Cassandra dearly.
Cassandra’s kindness and vibrant spirit will dearly be missed but fondly remembered by all who were fortunate to know her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or any animal rescue organization.
