Charles Monroe Cox, 69, formerly of Mexia, passed from this life into the hands of his Savior on May 4, 2016. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Pastor Don Hoxworth, Harvey Cox and Pastor Michael Vestal officiating. Interment will follow in the Prairie Grove Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Charles was born June 22, 1946 in the Fallon Community to Rev. Monroe and Dovie (Follis) Cox, the youngest of five children. He was a retired Mortician, after having served in that capacity some 38 plus years. Charles will be best remembered for his love of Southern Gospel Music. He sang his first solo in church when he was 11 years of age and had been active in Gospel Music ever since. In 2005, he was privileged to sing baritone in a Southern Gospel Quartet, Clouds of Glory, from Southeast Texas. While he was with the quartet, they completed one recording project entitled, "Heaven In View". At the same time, Charles made a solo project entitled," His Hand In Mine". Charles was active in various churches throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Aaron, Kenneth and Harvey. Charles is survived by one daughter, Amy Wolcott of College Station; grandchildren, Robert Wolcott of Marion, MI, Christopher Wolcott-Lee of Austin, Destiny Wolcott-Lee of Austin and Westley Harper and wife, Cassidy; great grandchildren, Westley Jr. and Michayla Harper of Bryan; sister, Maudene Allen and husband, Harvey of Mexia; and former wife and still best friend, Brenda Williams of College Station. Pallbearers will be Billy Archibald, Harvey Cox, Chance Cox, David Cox, Charles Little and Christopher Wolcott-Lee. Honorary pallbearers will be Harvey Allen, Charlie Allen, Jerry Allen, Michael Vestal, Ron O'Pry, Winford Collins, Greg Fleming and Galen Creighton.
