Charles Griffis Neason, 82, of Thornton passed away December 11, 2010 in Waco, Texas. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 13, 2010 at Central Baptist Church in Thornton with Rev. Tracy Sims and Rev. Lynn Fontenot officiating. Interment will follow in the Thornton Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m., Sunday at Blair-Stubbs Chapel in Thornton. Charles was born September 26, 1928 in Thornton, Texas to John Thomas and Thelma Ruth (Bradley) Neason. He was a lifelong resident of Thornton. He was very devoted to his family. Charles spent his life working on his farm, which he loved. When he got an opportunity to get away from the farm, he enjoyed competing in barbarque cookoffs. Charles was a member of Central Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Leona Irene Neason; and son, Tommy Neason. Charles is survived by his daughters, Lana Ponce and husband, Richard and Carrie Noel and husband, J. R. all of Thornton; grandchildren, Justin Goodard, Tristan and Aaron Neason, Trendal Noel, Savannah and Kaylie Williams; brothers, Joe Neason and wife, Jean and Bill Neason and wife, Elizabeth all of Thornton; and a very special friend, Sandy Adams. Pallbearers will be Aaron Neason, Lee Turbiarte, Devon Wilson, Joe Neason, Jr., Henry Neason and Walter Hewitt.
