Charles Henry "Soap" Osborne, 87, of Coolidge, entered into his heavenly home on April 22, 2015. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, April 26, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Coolidge with Pastor Bob Rainey officiating. Interment will follow in the Coolidge Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m., Saturday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Soap was born June 14, 1927 in Emmett, Texas to P. G. and Eula Littlejohn Osborne. He grew up in Coolidge and after graduating from Coolidge High School, received his Bachelor Degree in Education from Sam Houston University and Master Degree from Baylor University. He proudly served his country in the US Army in Germany. Soap returned to his hometown where he completed 48 years of service with the Coolidge ISD. He taught English, Spanish and wrote all the senior plays. Knowing the students, he wrote the parts for each individual person according to his or her personality to create the play. These performances provided money for the senior trips. On April 24, 1960, Soap married Rose Mary Stevens at the First United Methodist Church in Coolidge. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who cherished his family. He was a Christian who dedicated his life serving the Lord through his church and community. Soap was a long time active member of the First United Methodist Church where he served on numerous committees. He and Rose Mary traveled to many countries as he served as a delegate to the World Conference on numerous occasions. He also served in a number of capacities for the City of Coolidge. Soap enjoyed fishing and bird hunting; he fished for the peacock bass in the Amazon and hunted and fished in Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; two sisters; and son-in-law, David Webb. Soap is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Rose Mary Osborne of Coolidge; two daughters, Cheryl Osborne and husband, John O'Neal of Sylva, NC and Melinda Osborne Webb of Angleton; granddaughter, Kimberly Nugent and husband, Dr. John Nugent of Placerville, CA; two great-grandchildren, Kathryn and Sean Nugent; a number of nieces, nephews; and numerous friends. Pallbearers will be Rodney Webb, Bennie Stevens, Tommy Osborne, Matt Webb, Dr. W. H. "Bill" Lowry and Dale Lowry. Soap's family would like to express their sincere appreciation and thanks to Mary Kilgore, Angie Allcorn and Dorothy Kinney for their dedication and wonderful care given over the past years. The family request memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church of Coolidge.
