Charles Sunday

Mr. Charles E. (Buddy) Sunday, 67, of Forest Glade passed away Saturday, December 17, 2011, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Buddy was born February 24, 1944 in Mexia to Jesse Edward and Alta Louise Person Sunday. Buddy was a lifelong resident of Mexia. He married Patricia Ann (Patsy) Boehme in 1971 and they enjoyed 40 years of marriage. Buddy worked at the Mexia State School in the Maintenance Department for 34 years. He was a Baptist by faith. Spending time with his grandsons was very special for him. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, carpentry and keeping his yard. Buddy was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Patsy of Forest Glade, Daughter, Laurie Ann Murphey of Mexia, Grandsons, Hunter and Garret Morton and David Murphey, Sisters, Judy Vickery and husband J.T. of Groesbeck, Brenda George and husband Steve of Corsicana, Brother, Mike Sunday and wife Doris Ann of Mexia. In addition he is survived by his step-father, John E. (Kink) Ridge of Groesbeck, Aunt, Doris Harp of Mexia and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 19, 2011 at the Blair-Stubbs funeral home chapel with the Reverend Jay Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 7 PM Sunday evening at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Dwaine Tritschler, Kent Yelverton, Ronnie Talbot, Bill Person, Kenneth Shields and Cody Sunday. Honorary pallbearers will be David Taylor, Gary Talbot, Justin Vickery, Gale Cate, Jermy Sunday and Bobby Sunday. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Providence Hospice.
