Charles Dana Yelverton, 65, of Tehuacana passed away January 13, 2011 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Tx. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 16, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Mexia. Rev. Brad Brittain and Jan Harrison will officiate. Charles Dana was born September 4, 1945 in Mexia, Texas to Lloyd and Margadelle (Iley) Yelverton. He was a 1963 graduate of Mexia High School. Charles Dana married Starlene Day on July 9, 1966. He retired after 30 years as a pipeline inspector for Chevron Pipeline. He was also a cattle rancher. Charles Dana enjoyed hunting, tending to his cattle and traveling with his wife. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father; sister, Carol Yelverton; and aunt and uncle, Doris and Dana Iley. Charles Dana is survived by his wife, Starlene; daughter, Tammy Platt and husband, Tommy; son, Lloyd "Sonny" Yelverton; grandchildren, Rusty Platt and Amanda McAdams, Clynt and Clay Platt; great-granddaughter, Gentry Brook Platt; his mother, Margadelle Yelverton; brother, Kent Yelverton; sister, Sharon Garber and husband, Alden all of Tehuacana; nieces, Guyanne Mathis and husband, Kellan, Kera Nichols and husband, Nick and Brandy Fatkin and husband, Zach; great nieces and nephews, Chandler Boyd, Caroline, Blake and Brooke Mathis, Kamryn and Case Nichols, Ben, Caleb, Nathan and Ella Fatkin; and many special friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or charity of choice.
