Coley Glenn McPherson

Coley Glenn McPherson passed away March 15, 2024 in McGregor, Texas at the age of 84.   Visitation with the family will be 1-2 p.m., Monday, March18, 2024 at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.  A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Faulkenberry Cemetery in Groesbeck.

Coley was born January 24, 1940 in Groesbeck, Texas to Guy Coleman “Potsy” and Glenna Inez (Williams) McPherson.  He was raised in Groesbeck and a graduate of Groesbeck High School.  He was a self-employed Master Plumber for many years, prior to accepting the job of Inspector for the City of Waco.

Coley was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and a friend to many.  Spending time with his family was first and foremost in his life.  He had an outgoing personality, and never met a stranger.

Being a country boy at heart, Coley was truly happy being outdoors.  He enjoyed raising Greyhounds and animals of any kind.  When deer season came around, you could find in the woods, hunting (his favorite sport).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Glenna McPherson; and stepfather, Neal Medlen.

Coley is survived by his son, J. D. McPherson of Lorena; daughter, Jana Butts and husband, Skip of Lampasas; grandchildren, Devon McPherson and wife, Rachel and Andrew McPherson and wife, Kirsten; five great grandchildren; brother, Jerry Lynn McPherson and wife, Darlene of Moody; sister, Gail Smelscer and husband, Butch of Waco; half-brother, Mike Medlen of Groesbeck; several nieces and nephews; and an extended family, The Bates family.
