Cynthia Sue Voigt was born June 12, 1950, in Lockhart, Texas and passed away on March 12, 2022.
Despite coming into the world with mental and physical handicaps, Cynthia was blessed with a strong and loving family and support system. While she may not have been able to verbally communicate, she knew just how to get her point across. As the baby of the family, she was spoiled rotten, kept everyone on their toes, and knew just how to make people laugh at her shenanigans.
Besides her loving family, Cynthia’s greatest joys were her beloved stuffed animals and radios. Cynthia resided at Mexia State Supported Living for 63 years where she was very happy, had a good life, a job and a lot of wonderful staff that took care of her over the years. She surprised her doctors (but not her family) by living way longer than expected, even after having been placed under hospice care. She was a blessing to those who loved and knew her, and she left this world having taught them lessons about strength, persistence and humor.
She is survived by her devoted sister, Sharon McIntosh and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gradie Voigt and Mary Allan Smither Voigt; and her sister Saundra Allan Hicks.
