Darrell Grant Ridge

Darrell Grant Ridge went to be with His Lord and Savior on August 17, 2023 at the age of 59.  Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 19, 2023 in the First Baptist Church of Wortham with Reverend Justin Colquette officiating.  Visitation with the family will be prior to the service beginning at 9:00 a.m.  Interment will follow in the Wortham Cemetery.  Keith Jones, Eric Batts, James Carrol, Buddy Robinson, John Libhart, Jimmy Baugh, and Lonnie Beldin will be pallbearers.  Chad Ridge and Joseph Ridge will be honorary pallbearers.

Darrell was born December 16, 1963 in Wortham, Texas to Clyde “Hard Head” Ridge, Sr. and Mary Evelyn (Patterson) Ridge.  During his 31 plus years of employment with the Freestone County Road and Bridge Department, he enjoyed working with three Precinct 4 County Commissioners: John Stubbs, Johnny Massey, and Clyde Ridge.  He was an excellent equipment operator and a very dependable employee.

Darrell’s love for family was first and foremost in his life; he was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, brother, and uncle.  Darrell had an outgoing personality, never met a stranger, and greeted everyone with a big smile.  He was truly a Christian who believed in following the Golden Rule by treating everyone the way he wanted to be treated and willing to go out of his way to help anyone in anyway.

Darrell will be remembered as being a “good ole country boy”!  He loved just being outdoors, fishing, hunting, and enjoying the beautiful country that God created.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Justin Ridge; and brothers, Franky and Don Ridge.

Darrell is survived by his wife, Angie Ridge; daughter, Whitney Herod and husband, Trenton; brother, Clyde Ridge, Jr. and wife, Dana; sister-in-law, Becky; nieces, Christi Aase and Jenny Ridge; nephews, Chad and Joey Ridge; and numerous cousins.
