Datha Hazel Crutchfield

On April 12, 2023, Datha H. Crutchfield passed away peacefully at the age of 93.  Her work here is complete, she received an offer she couldn’t refuse for a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time.  Known to her family as Memaw, she will be missed dearly.  She always made the best pot roast, pancakes and chicken and dumplings; her memory and recipes will live on through all her grandbabies, whom she loved dearly. 

Datha was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, James R. Crutchfield; her father and mother, Marion Leon DeZell and Jewel Corinne Delo DeZell of Mexia, Tx.; her brothers and sisters; Donald Dezell, Glendon Oscar DeZell, Margaret Kathleen DeZell, Lena Frances DeZell, Edward Leon DeZell and Bobby Neal DeZell; and one son, Hubert Leon Crutchfield.

She is survived by her son, Roger L. Crutchfield and wife, Rita G. Crutchfield of Dallas, Tx.; her daughter, Leigh Ann Brewer and husband, James Steven Brewer of Mexia, Tx.; her grandchildren, Kenny Crutchfield and wife, Crystal Crutchfield, Stacey Crank and husband, Gary Crank, Jr., JC Brewer and wife, Maddalyn Brewer, Keri Carrillo and husband, Danny Carrillo, JOC Crutchfield and wife, Elizabeth Crutchfield and many great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at the Mexia Cemetery on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. with Alden Garber officiating.  Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.
