David Ray Allen, 84, passed away January 11, 2016 at his home in Hutchins, Texas. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 13, 2016 in the Coolidge Cemetery Chapel. A family visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Coolidge Cemetery Chapel. David was born September 14, 1931 in Coolidge, Texas to V. L. and Sudie Turner Allen. He was raised in Coolidge, where he also attended school. He proudly served his country in the US Marines during the Korean War. After being discharged from service, he attended Sam Houston University. David retired from Mercury Freight Line after 18 years of service as a truck driver. On October 21, 1958 in Vernal, Utah, he married the love of his life, Patsey Swint. Although they lived in the city, they still loved the country. David took advantage of every opportunity to spend time on his farm in Coolidge. He raised a variety of crops, as well as cattle and horses. In addition to farming, he was mechanically inclined and enjoyed working on tractors and other things. In his leisure time, you could find him fishing on a tank, river or lake somewhere. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ryndol Allen; and sister, Peggy Haddox. David is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Patsey Allen of Hutchins; and number of nieces, nephews and friends.
