Deborah Kaye Brooks, 60, of Mexia, passed away February 14, 2014 at her home. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the Prairie Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Prairie Grove Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 1:00-2:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the Prairie Grove Baptist Church. Deborah was born December 15, 1953 in San Antonio, Texas to Carl and Margaret Doris Burkett Sims. She was a secretary for the Foster Grandparents at the Mexia State Supported Living Center. Deborah married Danny James Brooks on September 13, 2000 in Coolidge, Texas. Deborah was a very caring person with a big heart; always giving to those in need. She cherished her family and spending time with them. She was very creative, a wonderful seamstress, enjoyed garage selling and gardening. It was said that she could grow a flower from a "stick". She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Sims, granddaughter, Stephanie Brooke Parks; brother-in-law, Richard Eberle; and son-in-law, Michael Dale Samples. Deborah is survived by her husband, Danny Brooks of Mexia; daughters, Laura Denise Samples of Groesbeck, Kimberly Dawn Baker and husband, Brian of Cedar Hill and Kristi Diane Harrell and wife, Rachel Henry of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Faith Samples, Hannah Grace Samples, Madison Joy Harrell, Caleb Farrell Rhodes, Noah Michael Baker, Savannah Grace-Ann Rhodes and Bentley James Harrell-Rhodes; mother, Margaret Doris Sims; brothers, Wayne Sims and wife, Kathy and Gary Sims and wife, Rita; sisters, Ruth Anne Eberle and Nancy Mays and husband, Keith; and a number of nieces and nephews.
