Dolores Ann Watson

Dolores Ann Watson passed away on January 9, 2023 in Mexia, Texas at the age of 72.  Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Smith officiating.  Interment will follow in the Lost Prairie Cemetery.  Gavin Patrick, Jarik Watson, Kaylon Watson, Brian Kyle, Delbert Kyle, Jr., and Chris Sheppard will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.

Dolores was born on November 27, 1950 in Houston, Texas to Jasper Scroggins and Opal Scroggins(Tillery). She graduated from Ronald Reagan High School.  She married James “Tub” Watson and they were blessed with two children, James and Lynda. In addition to being a homemaker, Dolores worked at the Mexia State School as a trainer for many years.

Dolores loved her children, but she truly cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was so thankful, as were her children, for her special brother-in-law, Buddy Walton.  Buddy really watched after her and helped take care of her during her later years. 

Dolores enjoyed playing computer games and making all types of crafts, especially, jewelry with beads.  She loved drinking a good cup of coffee and being among her friends at the nursing home.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jasper Scroggins; mother, Opal Scroggins Tillery ; husband, James “Tub” Watson; great grandchild, Noriah Watson; sisters, Jackie Walton and  Kay Scroggins; brothers, Edward "Bubba" Scroggins, Kennith Scroggins, and Howard "Skipper" Scroggins.

Dolores is survived by her children. James Watson and wife, Tiffany and Lynda Cates; grandchildren Kaylon Watson, Jarik Watson, Patrick Cates, Zachary Watson, Chelsea Bratcher, and Jakira Bell; great grandchildren, Timothy Watson, Alayah Watson, Saint Watson, Jaci Watson, Athena Patrick, Alice Patrick and Abigal Patrick; sisters, Celeste Houk and Betty Ramsey; and special brother-in-law, Wesley "Buddy" Walton.

Dolores' family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to all the staff at Skilled Care of Mexia for the wonderful care given during the time she resided with them.
