Dewey Ray LaFoy, 61, of Mexia passed away October 12, 2012 at Scott & White Hospital in Temple. Funeral services will be 3PM, Sunday, October 14, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church in Mexia with Rev. Earl Sterling officiating. Interment will follow in the Fort Parker Memorial Park in Groesbeck. Visitation with the family will be 5-7pm, Saturday at the funeral home. He was born August 12, 1951 in Mexia, Texas to Dewey Melton LaFoy and Fayth Garner LaFoy. Dewey graduated from Mexia High School in 1971. After graduation, he worked for Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home, prior to attending mortuary school in Houston. He worked for a number of funeral homes over the years before joining the Mexia Fire Department. He received his Fire Fighter training at College Station. Dewey, later, went to work for his father at D & D Communications and North Star Ambulance Service. He worked for the Mexia Police Department for five years before going to work for the Mexia State School Maintenance Department, where he worked until his death. Dewey loved his family, was a good friend to many and enjoyed helping others. He was preceded in death by his father, Dewey Melton LaFoy and step-mother, Evelyn LaFoy. Dewey is survived by his wife, Betty Beck LaFoy; mother, Fayth Daniels; sons, Robert Lafoy and wife, Teri and Mikal LaFoy and fiance`, Traci; grandaughters, Shelby LaFoy and Tierra Smith; and grandsons, Bradlee and Coalton LaFoy and Dustin Smith. Pallbearers will be Bobby Knutson, Don Sterling, Scott Moore, Shane Turner, David Watson, Tom Parker and Tony Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be the Mexia State Supported Living Center Maintenance Department and the Mexia Fire Department.
