Dillie Margaret Tyus, 74, of Lake Mexia passed away September 30, 2009 at her home. Funeral services will be 1 PM Saturday, October 3, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Groesbeck. Rev. Ron Bellamy will officiate with interment to follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 PM Friday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home in Mexia. Dillie was born on December 14, 1934 in Gainesville, Texas to Henry Joseph and Jonnie Bird (Weinder) Otto. She married Walter Vernon Tyus, Jr. on July 14, 1963 in Weslaco, Texas. Dillie worked as a medical technologist and a school teacher. After 21 years with Wharton ISD, she retired and they moved to Lake Mexia. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Groesbeck. She was preceded in death by her parents. Dillie is survived by her husband, Vernon Tyus of Lake Mexia; two sons, John Walter Tyus and Joe Edward Tyus both of Mexia; one daughter, Angela Margaret Tyus-Torp of Hewitt; grandchildren, Travis and Kayla Torp and Hannah and Aaron Tyus. Pallbearers will be Dan Collins, Roy DeFriend, Bubba LaGone, Jack Leach, Bill Low, Ray O'Docharty. Honorary Pallbearers will be The Methodist Sunday School Class.
