Dixie McClellan

Dixie Marie (Ballard) McClellan, 69, of Big Spring, formerly of Mexia passed away Thursday, January 31, 2013, at her home after a short battle with cancer. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Tuesday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at the funeral home. Dixie was born in Medford, Ore., on February 7, 1943, to Edgar and Martha Ballard. Dixie graduated from high school and business college in El Paso and resided in Oklahoma, Mexia and Snyder before moving to Big Spring in 1998. She worked for various banks and newspapers in Texas and Oklahoma and South Plains Implement (previously Porter Henderson) in Big Spring. Dixie is survived by her husband of 35 years, Bill McClellan of Big Spring; two sons, David Miller of Big Spring and Corey Miller (wife Mary Jane) of Bayview, Texas; one daughter, Jeanette Walker (husband Anthony) of Spring, Texas; three grandchildren, Brandon Hill of Houston, Hannah Hill of Houston and Sammy Miller of Bayview; brother Earl Ballad (wife Jeanne) of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; one sister, Linda O'Connell (husband Van) of Mexia, Texas; brother-in-law Bob McClellan (wife Aiko) of Kerrville, Texas; sister-in-law Susan Parker (husband Don) of Kerrville; nephews, Mitch Ballard of Nashville, Tenn., and Matthew Ballard (wife Kim) of Teague, Texas; four nieces, Anna O'Connell of Cherry Hill, N.J.,, Jamie Russell (husband Scotty) of Cameron, N.C., Vanessa O'Connell (husband Randall) of Mexia and Amanda Ross (husband Alan) of Liberty Hill, Texas; 21 great nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Big Spring Home Hospice, Prairieview Baptist Church for their loving and tender care. Also, for the thoughts and prayers of her many friends, both personal and business, throughout her illness. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society or the Texas Parks System, Texas Department of Wildlife.
