Dora Mae Howard, 79, of Mexia, passed away October 23, 2015 in Waco, Texas. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 25, 2015 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Rev. Jerry Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Wilson Chapel Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 1-3 p.m., Sunday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Dora was born in Frost, Texas on February 4, 1936 to Commodore M. and Jenny Mae Hutchison Coffee. She worked in the Mexia State Supported Living Center Foster Grandparent program for a number of years; prior to that she devoted her life to her most important job, raising her seven children. Dora loved interacting with people, she spoke to everyone she met and usually struck up a conversation with them. She loved to read and was a frequent visitor of the library; she was also a big Texas Ranger Fan. Dora was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Dora family was her pride and joy. She will always be remembered as being a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who will forever be missed. She also dearly loved her extended family, Patches and Sparky (her dogs), who she often referred to as "My Boys". She was preceded in death by her parents; brother; grandson; son-in-law; and the father of her children. Dora is survived by her children, Douglas Howard of Donie, Elaine Pruitt of Shiloh, Faye Rhodes of Dallas, Brenda Hanshaw of Wakefield, VA, James Howard of Mexia, Charles Howard of Bartonville and Keith Howard of Shiloh; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; sister, Verna Jean Kravik of West; and her boys, Patches and Sparky. Pallbearers will be Stephen Rhodes, Scotty Griffith, Douglas Howard, Jr., Michael Howard, Tyler Rhodes and Hunter Rhodes.
