Dorothy Teresa "Terri" Garner, 90, of Mexia passed away May 2, 2012 in Mexia. Graveside services will be 2PM, Monday, May 7, 2012 at Resthaven Memorial Park in Houston with Judge Ray Jones officiating. Terri was born May 31, 1921 in Peekskill, New York to Joseph and Nell Young Habit. She and her husband, Felix Cecil Garner who was Fire Chief for the City of Houston, were married for 26 years prior to his death in 1968. She moved from Houston to Mexia 4 years ago. Terri retired from Sears and Roebuck after many years of service in the catalog department. She loved spending time with her family and friends, crocheting and enjoyed sitting in her backyard watching the birds. She was a Methodist. Terri will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and son, Joseph Orrin Garner in 2003. Terri is survived by her children , Brince Garner and wife, Jerisue of Bellaire, TX and Dorothy Marie Wallace and husband, Pat of Yoakum, TX; grandchildren, Louis Garner and wife, Lori of Mexia, Randy Garner and wife, Becky of Houston, Shane Wallace and wife, Amy of Wharton, Mandy Wallace and Bryan Heidaker of Yoakum; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Terri's family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Mexia LTC for the wonderful and attentive care they gave to her.
