Dorothy Mae Henderson, 90, passed away February 5, 2016 in Mexia. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 7, 2016 in the Mexia Cemetery with Rev. Dale McDaniel officiating. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m., Saturday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Dorothy was born August 7, 1925 in Personville, Texas to Henry and Jewel Pittman Dossey. She married her lifelong partner, Edsel M. Henderson in Mexia on February 26, 1944. For a period of time, she worked for a dry cleaners and as a day care teacher, however, taking care of her husband and raising their children was her first priority. When she wasn't busy with church, family or friends, she enjoyed working puzzle books. Dorothy had an outgoing personality, enjoyed visiting with people and believed in treating everyone with respect; she was loved by all who knew her. She was a longtime active member of the First Baptist Church in Tehuacana. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Naomi Watson. Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Edsel of Mexia; children, Shirley Gibson of East Bernard, TX and son, Larry Henderson of Mexia; grandchildren, Stephanie Orsak, Carol Bronikowski, Alisha Cunningham, Janis Haubrich and Clint Preston; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
