Dorothy Randell Johnson, 86, of Arlington (formerly of Odessa) passed away February 17, 2009 in Arlington, Texas. A memorial service will be held at Salem Cemetery (Freestone County) Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Dorothy was born in Mexia, Texas on September 13, 1922. Her father, H. H. Randell, was born in Teague, Texas in 1900. She was a 1940 graduate of Ville Platte High School in Ville Platte, Louisiana. Dorothy worked as an Ector County Texas Veterans Service Officer until retiring in 1998, however, she continued working part-time in the same capacity until 2006. She was determined to assist veterans in whatever capacity she could for as long as she could. Dorothy resided in Odessa, Texas from 1957-2007, she moved to Arlington, Texas due to health reasons. She was a member of United Daughters of the Confederacy, Julia Jackson 141, Fort Worth, Texas. She is survived by her daughter, Joy Johnson Shorkey of Fort Worth and granddaughter, Elizabeth Shorkey Wells of Burleson.
