Dorothy Janette Padgett, 76, passed away on March 12, in Seymour, Texas. Visitation with the family will be from 1-2 p.m., on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Ray Payne officiating. Interment will follow in the Winn Cemetery in Marquez, Texas. Michael Padgett, Clint Winstead, Jerry Padgett, Ernie Melton, Mason Woith, and Jordan Alley will serve as pallbearers.
Dorothy was born January 12, 1946 in Keechi, Texas to George and Dorothy (Mullenax) Murphy. She worked as a Nurse’s Aide for many years, prior to retirement. This occupation was so suited for Dorothy as she was such a loving, caring person who was willing, and enjoyed, helping others regardless of their needs.
Dorothy’s life revolved around her family, she was proud of her three children, nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She loved all her family and enjoyed spending time with them, but nothing made her happier than the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren; she cherished them dearly. She also loved her pets. Her hobbies consisted of shopping with her best friend, Madell, and playing games.
Dorothy was also a hard worker and no matter what happened in life, she maintained a positive attitude. Dorothy loved the Lord and was strong in her faith. She was a member of the Ephesus Baptist Church in Marquez.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Dorothy Murphy; daughter, Joyce “Sissy” Noey; son-in-law, Gary Conn; sisters, Faye Copeland, Selma Jo Tullous and Beth Green; and brother, Alvin Murphy.
Dorothy is survived by her children, James Padgett and wife, Amber of Jewett and Janet Conn of Seymour, Texas; grandchildren, Jerry Padgett, Jana Melton and husband, Ernie, James R. Padgett, Ashley Pugh and husband, Kyle, Carissa Padgett, Magan Noey, Orin Noey, Kristen Conn and Clint Winstead; great grandchildren, Heather Melton, Korissa Winstead, Lee Melton, Emily Pugh, Conner Pugh, Raegan Phillips, Korbin Pugh, and Carter Thompson; sister, Barbara Martin and husband, Bobby; and numerous nieces and nephews.
