Mrs. Dorothy LaVerne Radford, 97, of Mexia passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011 in Mexia. Mrs. Radford was born August 17, 1913 in Troy, Texas to J.C. and Carrie L. Smith Fowler. She moved to Mexia in 1922 and graduated from Mexia High School in 1931. For some time she worked at J.C. Penney's in Mexia. In 1943, she married James Radford in Reno, Nevada. She was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1945. Dorothy lived in Sevier, Utah until 1996 when she moved back to Mexia. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 brothers, Bill Fowler and David Fowler and 1 sister, Carrie Beth Thomas. Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews, and innumerable good, good friends. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, located at 1209 S. Hinchliffe Road in Mexia. John Allred will officiate at the service. Memorials may be made to the Gibbs Memorial Library in Mexia or the charity of your choice.
