Dr. Jerry Wayne Simmons

Funeral Services for Dr. Jerry Wayne Simmons of Mexia, Texas who died October 8, 2024, will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 12 at First Baptist Church- Groesbeck. Pastor Keith Collier will officiate.

Jerry was born August 27, 1949, in Okemah, Oklahoma to Ted and Mamie Simmons. He entered medical school early in his education with a strong desire to heal people and raise their quality of life. After practicing as a doctor, he met his wife, Vicki, and they were married on December 23, 1981. 

Jerry was a kindhearted man and had a way of speaking to people that made them feel loved and appreciated. To those who knew him best, they will remember his quick wit and genuine nature. A beloved husband, father, doctor, and friend; he will be truly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Mamie Simmons. Jerry is survived by his wife of 42 years, Vicki, his daughter, Tiffany, and his two sons, Sam and Kelly as well as nine grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be given to First Baptist Church- Groesbeck or a charity of your choice.
