Eddie Wendell Tooke, 96, passed away early Friday morning, December 29, 2006 at Oakview Nursing Home in Hubbard, Texas. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, January 2nd 2007 at 11:00 AM at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Chapel on McKinney at Glendale, Mexia, Texas with the Reverend Rick Gray officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Grove Cemetery under the direction of Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be Monday, January 1st from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Mr. Tooke was born September 21, 1910 in Fallon, Limestone County, Texas where he lived and farmed most of his life. After retiring from farming, he worked for the Mexia State School. He was President of the Prairie Grove Cemetery Association for many years. He was also on the school board of Shiloh Independent School District before it became part of the Mexia ISD. Mr. Tooke was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Pauline Tooke. He is survived by 4 children and their spouses - Wendell & Billie Tooke of Granbury, Eddie Don & Yvette Tooke of Carrollton, Joyce & Paul Sawyer of Arlington, and Madge & Charlie Pitzer of Burleson. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 2 great, great-grandchildren. Grandsons and one great-grandson will serve as pallbearers. They are Don Tooke, Eddie Tooke, Bryan Sawyer, Brandon Sawyer, Scott Sawyer, Paige Pitzer, Chase Pitzer, and Barry Davis. Honorary pallbearers are Jack Sawyer and Michael Tooke.
