Edsel was born December 5, 1925 in Personville, Texas to Carlie and Nora Bessie Vest Henderson. Edsel married his loving wife and lifelong partner, Dorothy Mae Dossey on February 26, 1944 in Mexia, Texas. One month later, he was in the US Army serving in WWII. After being discharged from the Army, he went to work for Phillips Petroleum as an Operation Supervisor, retiring after many years of service. His goals in life included serving the Lord and working hard to provide for his family. He was raised in a Christian home and he raised his children in a Christian home, as well. His family was his pride and joy; he loved them all but the grandchildren and great-grandchildren really had a special place in his heart. Edsel was always a country boy at heart, after retiring, he returned to Mexia to raise cattle and get back to enjoying country living. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed playing 42 with family and friends. Edsel lived a simple, honest and hardworking life. He respected people and treated them the way he wanted to be treated. He was a longtime active member of the First Baptist Church in Tehuacana. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 72 years, Dorothy Henderson; brothers, Nolan "Sonny", Ray Gene, and Troy Henderson; and sisters, Esther Mae Ainsworth, Euna Fay Allen and Clara Ann Bates. Edsel is survived by his daughter, Shirley Gibson of East Bernard, TX; son, Larry Henderson of Waco; grandchildren, Stephanie Orsak, Carol Bronikowski, Alisha Cunningham, Janis Haubrich and Clint Preston; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Novie Allen and Roma Dell Gilliam; and numerous nieces and nephews.
