Ellen Christelle McCoslin, 97, of Mexia passed away March 1, 2011 in Mexia. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2011 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating. Interment will follow in the Lost Prairie Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Ellen was born June 10, 1913 in Personville, Texas to A. J. and Sally Oakes Rogers. She and Herman G. McCoslin had been married for 67 years at the time of his death on April 16, 1992. She was a homemaker. Ellen dedicated her life to serving the Lord and caring for her family. Her heart and home was always open to everyone. Her faith, and strong will, carried her through many trying times during her life. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and fishing. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; children, Freda Ann Haynes and Douglas Gene McCoslin; granddaughter, Shelli Ray McCoslin; brothers, T. A., Alvie, Weldon and Allen Rogers, Jr.; and sisters, Ila Mae McCoslin and Mozelle Ferguson. Ellen is survived by eight grandchildren, Donald Gene Ferguson, Christi Thibodeaux, Maurice Miles Ferguson, Sarah Ann Ferguson, Larry Herman Haynes, Kelly Gene Stewart, Susie Gaye McCoslin and Dougie Shaunacy; ten great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and two nieces, Belinda Erner and Angie Roach; one nephew, Jay Rogers. Pallbearers will be Mike Morton, Spike Morton, James Stewart, Austin Stewart, Dean McCoslin, Al Thibodeaux and Ricky Sanders.
