Eunice Lane

Eunice Alta Lane, 97, entered her heavenly home on June 3, 2018 while surrounded by her loving family at her home in Shiloh. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at the Calvary Baptist Church with Bro. James Hooper and Bro. Shane Norcross officiating and great grandson, Keith Guthrie speaking. Interment will follow in the Post Oak Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerry Zavala, John Jones, Lonnie Lewis, Shaun Lane, Bobby Lane and Vance Rose. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m., Monday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Eunice was born July 23, 1920 in Donie, Texas to Harmon James and Viva Eugenia Kennedy Taylor. She worked for Kendrick & Horn Drug Store for many years before going to work at the Mexia State School, where she retired after 15 years of service in the Direct Care Department. Eunice love for the Lord, family and friends was exemplified by the way she lived her life. She cherished her family and was happiest when they could all get together. She loved her children dearly and her love grew even more as she became a grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was a longtime active member of the Calvary Baptist Church where she thoroughly enjoyed church socials and being with her church family. She was, also, an active member of WMU, Glorious Group and Home Extension Club. Eunice was very outgoing, always happy and enjoyed being around people. She was always set on "go", some in her family said she had a built-in instinct, she just knew when a car would be driving up. She loved to travel, crochet, sewing and playing along with the Price Is Right and Wheel of Fortune. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, J. W. Taylor; and sister, Eugenia Faye Campbell. Eunice is survived by her loving family, daughter, Carolyn Lewis and husband, Jack of Mexia; son, Grover "Sonny" Lane and wife, Glenda of Mexia; grandchildren, Michelle Zavala and husband, Jerry of Mexia, Lisa Jones and husband, John of Mexia, Lonnie Lewis and wife, Leigh of Maypearl, Carl Lee Lane and wife, Angela, Shaun Daniel Lane and wife, Julie of Temple and Bobby Lane of Duncanville; 16 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; sister, Mary Ann Shamblin of Mexia; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorials may be made to Providence Hospice or charity of choice.
