Chapel services for Mrs. Eva Joyce Owens, 85 of Jacinto City, Texas were held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 22, 2005 at Blair - Stubbs Funeral Home in Mexia. The Dr. Max Burkhead officiated. Mrs. Owens, born on June 27, 1920 in Limestone County, died August 20, 2005 at the Forum, a hospice care facility in Houston. Before retirement she worked as an X-ray Technician at several hospitals in the Houston area. Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her parents, John O. and Eva Stephens; her husband, Erve A. (Snookum) Owens; two brothers, Weldon Stephens and Alton Stephens, five sisters: Hope Truelove, Oree Fore, Pauline Brown, Corine Lancaster and Ila B. Owens. Surviving are three children: Adrin Owens and wife, Sue of Pasadena, Joyce E. (Betty) Hanagriff of Houston, and John David Owens of Jacinto City; two grandchildren: Alan Hanagriff and Shannon Hanagriff of Houston, and five great-grandchildren: Renee, Andrew, Courtney, Hunter and Tonya Hanagriff. Also Mrs. Owens has three nieces and A nephew living in the local area: Mrs. Annie V. Britt, Mrs. Beth Beene, Mrs. Lois Willett and Cecil R. Stephens, plus numerous other relatives.
