Eva Beene Ray, 77, of Mexia passed away November 22, 2012 in Mexia, Texas. Funeral services will be 2PM, Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Rev. Michael Vestal officiating. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5-6 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home. Eva was born March 15, 1935 in Mexia, Texas to Wendell and Bertie West Beene. She was a lifelong resident of Mexia. Eva was a graduate of Mexia High School. She married William F. "Pete" Ray on December 6, 1968 in Shiloh. She retired from the Texas Department of Human Resources after many years of service. Eva was affectionately known by her family and others as Aunt "B". She loved God, her family and her church. She was a caregiver, loved family and community events and working in her church. She was loved by all who knew her. Eva was a longtime member of Temple Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Pete Ray; nephew, Wendell Bolton; and step-grandson, Caleb Farmer. Eva is survived by her sister, Thelma Bolton; nephew, Mike Bolton and wife, Valerie; niece, Patti Miller and husband, Bobby; step-children, Pat Keele, Tommy Ray and Mike Ray; step-grandchild, Kevin Farmer; great-nieces and nephews, Kerri Nichols, Brian Miller, Staci Fleming, Stephanie Olvera, Shelby Bolton, Scott Bolton, Zach Bolton and Andy Bolton; and several great-nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Brian Miller, Brian Nichols, Scott Bolton, Brandon Fleming, Julio Olvera and Taylor Wolken. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Temple Baptist Church Ladies Adult Sunday School Class.
