Evelyn Reason

Evelyn Maurine (Cone) Reason, 86 took her first breath into heaven Thursday, February 8, peacefully in her home. Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, February 10, 2007 at Calvary Baptist Church with Bro. Rick Gray officiating and put to rest at Cobb Cemetery in Thornton, Texas. The family will receive visitation from 6 - 8 p.m. Saturday at Blair - Stubbs Funeral Home, Mexia, Texas. Mrs. Reason was born October 23, 1921 in Farrar, Texas to Alonza Clyde Cone, Sr. and Ruby Maurine (Nettles) Cone. After her school years she married her high school sweet- Heart, Stanley Howard Reason, who has been a loving, loyal and devoted husband and best friend for 66 years. Evelyn loved children and animals. She was always active in her children's PTA, Room Mother activities, all seasons sports. She was a Cub and Boy Scout Den Mother, and a Member of various social clubs. Later being a proud grandmother of 4 grandchildren, Who called her "Other Momma". "Other Momma" always made time to attend many if not all of the football and baseball games of both grandsons. A devoted grandmother, she was never happier than when she was cheering at a sporting event, applauding at a dance recital or spending quality time with a house full of family and friends during holidays or weekends. Evelyn was a active member and attended Calvary Baptist Church until her illness. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, and niece Teresa Maurine Cone. She is survived by her husband, Stanley Howard Reason of Mexia, One brother, Clyde Cone, Jr. and wife, Virginia (Nonie) Cone of Lake Jackson; her son, Jim Cone Reason and wife Jonell of Mart; a daughter, April Joy Reason of Mexia and friend Jon (Bud) Carroll of Streetman: Grandson, John Reason and Savannah of Temple, Granddaughter, Adriane Ivison of College Station; grandson, Matt Ivison and wife, Maggie of Mexia, Granddaughter, Amanda Teer and husband, Chad of Nacogdoches; two great grandchildren, Haley Paige Stone of Fairfield and Matthew Cooper Ivison of Mexia: One God daughter: Taylor Nonie Brooks of Dallas, one niece, three nephews, three great nieces, three great nephews, several cousins and many friends. Pallbearers will be grandsons: John Reason, Matt Ivison, and nephews: Steve Cone, John Cone, Matt Cone and Eric Crainer. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Nettles, Everett Crainer, Billy Patterson, James Rand, Walter Jo Lenamon and Bud Carroll. Mother, Other Momma, and friend to many will be missed by those who loved and knew her. Many thanks for such wonderful care to the nurses, aids and all other staff with Mexia Providence Hospice and a special thank you to Mellie Carroll of Mexia for coming to the Home to cut and fix mother's hair on a regular basis.
